Introduction
Chanukah (or Hanukkah), is a Jewish Holiday that celebrates the historic story of heroism. When the Jews courageously fought against the godless coercion of the Greeks that restricted Torah reading and observance of the Shabbat (Sabbath Day) after the Greeks desecrated the Jewish temple.
Background
In 164 BCE, Jerusalem was recaptured by a band of Jewish rebels, known as the Maccabees; led by Judah the Maccabee. Leading to the reinstatement of Sabbath Day Observances and Torah reading after purification of the Jewish temple took place.
The rededication of the Jewish temple involved the lighting of a seven-branched Jewish Temple Menorah using one day’s worth of oil that miraculously lasted eight days, spiritually symbolizing the use of an eight-branched Menorah today.
Celebrate with us, the events leading up to the spiritual freedom of the Jews from religious Greek philosophy.
