YHWH||ANYAMARY||JESUSISRAEL share scripture, Mark 2:19:
Background
King Ahasuerus shared kingdom power of the Persian empire with Queen Vashti, who refused the obey the King’s orders when he asked for her presence. And her disobedience caused her to lose power as Queen and King Ahasuerus sought out a new Queen amongst the fairest young virgins in the land.
King Ahasuerus happened to favor a woman who went by the name of Esther. She was the daughter of Mordecai’s uncle and Mordecai took her as his own daughter after her father and mother died. Mordecai charged her to change her name from Hadassah to hide her Jewish identity since the Jews were the minority ethnicity in the land. And therefore, they were frequently subjected to oppression by the majority rule.
For the refusal of Mordecai’s worship of Haman at the King’s gate, Haman assembled a masterplan with King Ahasuerus to execute all the Jews in the land in a single day.
Queen Esther was courageous in the face of death as she went into the King’s court after falling out of favor with him. Back then, entering the King’s court without being summoned could result in the death of a Queen if the King refused to tip his scepter in her direction.
In preparation for entering the King’s court to plead for the lives of her people, she called for her people to fast and pray to the LORD God for three days. Queen Esther revealed to the King, the evil plot of Haman to exterminate the people associated with his whistleblower, Mordecai; who previously informed the King of an insider assassin attempt on his very own life. By the Grace of God, Queen Esther received favor from the LORD and a decree was issued that allowed the Jewish people to defend themselves from their opposing Persian enemies in the land and they overwhelmingly prevailed.
The Jewish Holiday of Purim celebrates the miraculously divine liberation of the Jewish people from death by the extermination order executed by Haman under the King’s authorization. After Haman sought revenge for Mordecai’s refusal to worship him at the King’s gate he was hung to death on the gallows. The King’s signet ring was transferred to Mordecai and Queen Esther set him over the house of Haman.
