10\u00a0The earth quakes before them; the heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened and the stars withdraw their shining. [Rev. 9:2-4; 16:14.]<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

11\u00a0And the [*LORD of Hosts in the Lord Jesus Christ] utters His voice before His army, for His host is very great, and [they are] strong\u00a0and<\/em> powerful who execute [God’s] word. For the day of the [*LORD of Hosts in the Lord Jesus Christ] is great and very terrible, and who can endure it? [Isa. 26:20, 21; 34:1-4, 8; Rev. 6:16, 17.]<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

12\u00a0Therefore also now, says the Lord [*Jesus Christ in the LORD of Hosts], turn\u00a0and<\/em> keep on coming to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning [until every hindrance is removed and the broken fellowship is restored].<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

13\u00a0Rend your hearts and not your garments and return to the [*LORD of Hosts in the Lord Jesus Christ], your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in loving-kindness; and He revokes His sentence of evil [when His conditions are met].<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

14\u00a0Who knows but what He will turn, revoke your sentence [of evil], and leave a blessing behind Him [giving you the means with which to serve Him], even a cereal\u00a0or<\/em> meal offering and a drink offering for the [*LORD of Hosts in the Lord Jesus Christ], your God?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

15\u00a0Blow the trumpet in Zion; set apart a fast [a day of restraint and humility]; call a solemn assembly.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

16\u00a0Gather the people, sanctify the congregation; assemble the elderly people, gather the children and the nursing infants; let the bridegroom [who is legally exempt from attending] go forth from his chamber and the bride out of her closet. [None is exempt from the humiliation.]<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

17\u00a0Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord [*Jesus Christ in the LORD of Hosts], weep between the porch and the altar; and let them say, Have pity\u00a0and<\/em> spare Your people, O Lord [*Jesus Christ in the LORD of Hosts], and give not Your heritage to reproach, that the [heathen] nations should rule over them\u00a0or<\/em> use a byword against them. Why should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

18\u00a0Then was the Lord [*Jesus Christ in the LORD of Hosts] jealous for His land and had pity on His people.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
