{"id":7463,"date":"2021-06-09T11:57:17","date_gmt":"2021-06-09T15:57:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/?p=7463"},"modified":"2021-06-09T19:38:04","modified_gmt":"2021-06-09T23:38:04","slug":"latkes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/2021\/06\/09\/latkes\/","title":{"rendered":"Latkes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>What are Latkes?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Latkes are a Jewish Pancake made with potatoes and eggs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:22px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please Note:<\/strong> The preparation and cooking times are based on my rhythm, they may be shorter or longer for you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:22px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center\">\n<p><strong>Prep Time:<\/strong> 20 minutes<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p><strong>Cooking Time:<\/strong> 20 minutes<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3>Ingredients<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>5 Russet potatoes <\/li><li>1 medium-sized Spanish yellow onion<\/li><li>3 garlic cloves or garlic salt<\/li><li>regular salt<\/li><li>pepper<\/li><li>flour<\/li><li>3 eggs<\/li><li>canola oil <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3>Utensils<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>1\/3 measuring cup<\/li><li>1\/2 tsp measuring spoon<\/li><li>1 tsp measuring spoon<\/li><li>1 tbsp measuring spoon<\/li><li>2 large frying pans<\/li><li>mincer<\/li><li>cutting board<\/li><li>strainer<\/li><li>grater<\/li><li>paring knife or peeler<\/li><li>whisk<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3>Preparations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Set out on your kitchen counter 2 bowls, and the two large frying pans on your stove. <\/li><li>Rinse your potatoes well with water, being sure to rub <strong>#thoroughly<\/strong> the grit and soil deposits off from the skin of the potatoes <\/li><li>Peel each potato with a paring knife or peeler, then set them aside. <\/li><li>Add 3-4 tbsp of canola oil into one of the frying pans for saut\u00e9ing and heat on medium to medium-high heat. <\/li><li>Peel and rinse your onion with water, then use your paring knife or peeler to dice it into 1\/2 inch to 1 inch long cubes. <\/li><li>Mince garlic into your diced onion and toss the mixture into the pan with 1 tsp salt and 1\/2 tsp pepper, then saut\u00e9 until golden brown.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"847\" src=\"https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-2-1024x847.jpeg\" alt=\"latke-2\" class=\"wp-image-7507\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-2-1024x847.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-2-300x248.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-2-768x635.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-2-1536x1271.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-2-2048x1694.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>While the onions are saut\u00e9ing, crack 3 medium-sized eggs into one of the bowls and set them aside in the refrigerator. <\/li><li>Return to your peeled potatoes and begin to shred each one with your grater into the other bowl until all 5 potatoes are completely shredded. <\/li><li>Pour the shredded potatoes into your strainer and rinse thoroughly with cold water, then rinse out the second bowl. <\/li><li>Return the shredded potatoes from the strainer to the bowl, fill the bowl with cold water, then set aside. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"822\" src=\"https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-5-1024x822.jpeg\" alt=\"latke-5\" class=\"wp-image-7510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-5-1024x822.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-5-300x241.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-5-768x616.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-5-1536x1233.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/anyakelly.com\/soj\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/latke-5-2048x1643.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Pour canola oil into the clean pan until filled up about a 1\/2 inch or so and heat on medium to medium-high heat.<\/li><li>Grab the bowl with the cracked eggs out of your refrigerator and add 1 tsp &amp; 1\/2 tsp regular salt (if minced garlic was added).
