February 28, 2021 23:06 NYST – Australian government has made the move to block news articles<\/a> received via Google (GOOG)<\/a> and Facebook (FB)<\/a> unless the two social media giants agree to give compensation for using the electronic data produced by news publisher’s content. Google (GOOG)<\/a> kindly offered up a proposal for a 3-year global agreement to pay for news publisher’s content. Facebook (FB)<\/a>, however, #balked<\/strong> at the compromise for compensation in exchange for sharing external news content by blocking all Australian news sources from their platform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The push for compensation comes from the realization of the billions of dollars Google (GOOG)<\/a> and Facebook (FB)<\/a> receive from sharing news content via external sources on their platforms and the decline in newspaper subscriptions. As of the week of February 15, 2021, Google (GOOG)<\/a> was down 30.6 points (1.5%), while Facebook (FB)<\/a> was down 9.4 points (3.5%). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As many loved ones are too afraid to gather amongst one another during the global Coronavirus pandemic. Over the many centuries of modern civilization, flowers have been given as a sign of sympathy and #condolence<\/strong> towards hurting loved ones as a way to show care and loving concern. Fears of inflation are growing<\/a> as the DOW JONES Industrial (DOW), Standard & Poors (S&P 500), and the NASDAQ (NDAQ) lost value for two straight weeks from February 15, 2021 to February 26, 2021; prior to the announcement that the House of Representatives passed the $1.9 Trillion Dollar economic stimulus<\/a>. Inflation fears have also driven the value of the dollar to multiyear lows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 10-year Treasury Note yield has fallen because demand for US Government bonds has increased<\/a>. Lower yields indicate a perceived increase in risk amongst investors in stocks<\/a>. As the 10-year Treasury Note carries the full backing of the US Government should the stock market experience a significant downturn or crash from an inflation bubble burst. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lastly, the NASDAQ (NDAQ) has been falling as a result of the increased movement from tech stocks to treasury notes and bonds to mitigate risk<\/a>. With Amazon (AMZN)<\/a>, Apple (AAPL)<\/a>, and Microsoft (MSFT)<\/a> reporting losses of 2% across the board<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

DOW JONES Industrial (DOW), Standard & Poors (S&P 500), and the NASDAQ (NDAQ) fell 102.7 points (0.3%), 66.9 points (1.7%), and 583.7 points (4.2%), respectively for the week of February 15, 2021.
