October 27, 2020 21:46 NYDT – DOW Jones Industrial composite index (image above) and the Standard and Poor\u2019s (S&P 500) composite index continued sliding from yesterday\u2019s sharp drop<\/a>, 222 points and 10 points, respectively. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NASDAQ composite index stayed above water 72 points today when Microsoft (MSFT) reported better than expected earnings.

#Eluding<\/strong> stimulus from the @WhiteHouse<\/a> and reduced economic stimuli from decreased consumer spending power, as indicated by lower Consumer Confidence<\/a> numbers, will add insult to the injury Coronavirus has inflicted on the global economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consumer Confidence is an economic indicator that measures the degree of optimism consumers have regarding their personal financial situation as related to the economic stability of the United States and its impact on states in the 9 Census regions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Consumer Confidence Index number is based on the following factors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Current business situation<\/li>
  2. Current employment conditions<\/li>
  3. Business expenses projected over the next 6 months<\/li>
  4. Job expectations for the next 6 months<\/li>
  5. Total household income anticipated over the next 6 months <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The all time high for consumer confidence was 111.40 points in January of 2000.<\/a> The current National Consumer Confidence index is 100.9, down from 101.3 in September. Additionally, Consumer Confidence in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Florida fell from 115.5 to 92.0, 124.1 to 119.2, and 114.4 to 100.3, respectively. Losses in Ohio, Illinois, and Texas offset gains in New York and California for an overall MEAN reduction in National Consumer Confidence from 101.3 to 100.9.

    And to add amazement and #perplexing<\/strong> contradiction to economic recovery, the     Federal Communications Commission (FCC) prepped this month to affirm<\/a> the repeal of Obama-era net neutrality rules<\/a> established in 2015. The elimination of net neutrality gives big corporations more power by snuffing out traffic to small business websites. At a time when remote business dealings are #paramount<\/strong> for a company\u2019s growth. Power greedy politicians and businessmen will continue to drag on a fragile economic recovery barely sputtering @nyse<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
