August 5, 2020 13:07 NYDT – A blast from a fertilizer, known as Ammonium Nitrate, rocked Beirut this morning with explosions that killed at least 100 people<\/span><\/strong><\/a>. Portions of the old city are in ruins despite a 15-year long civil war that did not ravage it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last war in Lebanon was in 2006 between Israel and Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militant group committed to the destruction of Israel. And the 15-year long battle did not cause significant damage to historical sites the way this latest slip up did, involving flammable fertilizer on Tuesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The image below shows silos filled with grain damaged by Tuesday’s blast. According to the New York Times<\/a>, one million people were struggling financially before the blast due to Coronavirus complications; resulting in 500,000 children struggling with not having 3 square meals a day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
